CTA-4  Gringo Gulch/Downtown villa -  While filming “The Night of the Iguana” in the early '60s, director John Huston rented this lovely Puerto Vallarta villa to enjoy the fabulous hillside panoramic views of the town and Banderas Bay. One of the original houses in the Gringo Gulch area, Fernando Romero built it in the old colonial Mexican style in 1957 and then architect James Meares, a designer of Los Angeles Dorothy Chandler Music Pavilion, remodeled it several years ago, adding contemporary flair. The owner has just recently added a pool and two new bedrooms to the stylish and colorful vacation rental so that it is now professionally decorated and with an impressive and beautiful art collection. This Puerto Vallarta villa has a convenient central location which makes it an easy walk or short taxi to Los Muertos beach and only steps away from shops, fine restaurants and the malecon boardwalk downtown.

The Casa Tabachin main entry level has 2 bedrooms, both with king size bed and private baths. The living, dining, kitchen, sitting areas and a spacious big patio are also on this level. Upstairs the master suite has a king bed, TV, open-air shower/bathtub and matrimonial sunken tub with French doors that open to the jacuzzi terrace. The fourth bedroom, also on this upper level, has a king bed (which can be made into 2 single), private bath and ocean view access to terrace. The jacuzzi/splash pool holds eight people and this terrace with lounge chairs and tables is ideal for sunning, lunch or drinks. The fifth bedroom on the lower level has a king, private bath and opens to the pool terrace.

Villa amenities include: Master suite and four bedrooms, five baths, satellite/cable TV, mini-split a/c in all bedrooms, telephone, stereo/CD players, heated pool, wireless internet and free long distance, laundry service and two fireplaces. Cook and maid daily except Sunday and Mexican holidays, rate includes cook service for up to two meals per day, cost of food and beverage is separate. Special arrangements may be coordinated by the congenial house staff for delightful cocktail parties, festive Mexican dinners, music and other activities. Maximum of eight to ten (8-10) guests. Minimum five (5) night rental; seven (7) nights over the holidays. No children. $500 security deposit.

Villa rates: Winter: November 1-April 30, $850 per night; Summer: May 1-October 31, $650 per night; Holidays: Christmas and New Years weeks, December 15-January 5, $1250 per night.
